ST. IGNATIUS — CSKT Tribal Health and the Sanders County Public Health Department will run a free COVID-19 testing event on July 9, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Hot Springs Rodeo Grounds.
Anyone is welcome to come and get tested at the event and a free gift card will be given to the first 150 people tested.
The testing event will be a drive-by setup with people arriving and testing while in their vehicle. The test consists of a simple nasal swab, and the process takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
This test -- which will show if someone is infected -- is not an antibody test that reveals if someone has ever had the virus. The test being done shows if someone is currently infected with COVID-19.
Those who are tested will need to provide contact information to receive results. At this time there is no age limit to test.
Health officials note that testing is one of the best tools to keep everyone safe from coronavirus since not everyone who has COVID-19 shows symptoms.
The event is part of an initiative by Gov. Steve Bullock to test 60,000 Montanans each month. Contact 406-849-5798 or email at COVID19@cskthealth.org for more information.
