BOZEMAN — The Gallatin City-County Health Department (GCCHD) confirmed that one more Gallatin County resident has passed away from complications due to COVID-19.

The person was a man in his 90s who died in a hospital the week of Dec. 13. GCCHD received the official death certificate that attributed his death to COVID-19 on Thursday.

This latest death makes for a total of 38 COVID-related deaths in Gallatin County. Data on statewide deaths reported by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services can be found here.

“The Health Department sends our condolences to this man’s family and friends,” said Matt Kelley, Gallatin City-County Health Department Health Officer. “As we head into the new year with hope and optimism, now is not the time to let up on all of the things that have helped save lives - social distancing, avoiding crowds, wearing face coverings, washing hands, and staying home when sick."

"While the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines in Gallatin County provides a light at the end of the tunnel, we still have a long way to go. But Montanans can do this," Kelley continued.

Out of respect for the man’s family, no further details will be released.

The Gallatin City-County Health Department COVID Call Center will be closed Jan. 1-2 for the holiday. The most accurate local source of information remains the GCCHD website.
