HARDIN — Hardin school district officials said a student in the district has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a recent Facebook post, district officials said they were notified of the positive test on Tuesday.

The post states the Big Horn County Health Department reports "a very small number of District staff and/or students may have been exposed. However, the student last attended in person-to-person contact with fellow students/staff on August 24, 2020."

The county health department will be in contact with anyone who may have been at risk of exposure.

The school district and health department are "reviewing the Center for Disease Control guidance to complete cleaning the school and other related facilities."

"School officials will continue to monitor the situation and will provide further information if and when it becomes necessary," the post states.

Which school the student attended was not released. The age or grade level of the student was also not released.

Big Horn County currently has 609 total coronavirus cases and 191 active cases. There have been 15 deaths due to the virus in the county. On Wednesday the county added six new cases.
