Missoula County reports 33 additional COVID-19 cases

MISSOULA — The Missoula City-County Health Department (MCCHD) on Wednesday reported 33 additional COVID-19 cases since the Tuesday update.

There are currently 294 active cases in Missoula County and over 1,200 close contacts are being monitored.

Local public health officials are reporting 872 cumulative cases* to date in Missoula County, including 13 epi-linked cases.**

Of these 294 active cases, 78 are associated with the University of Montana.

Fourteen individuals are hospitalized in Missoula County facilities as of Tuesday including six county residents.

There have been 575 recoveries and three COVID-19 related deaths to date.

"We expect to continue seeing discrepancies in local and state COVID-19 reporting. Please continue referring to our county-level information for the most current and accurate COVID-data in Missoula County," a news release states.

A total of four new cases are being reported from the University of Montana, bringing the cumulative total to 127.

Missoula COVID-19 Incident Commander Cindy Farr told MTN News on Tuesday that most of the recent cases have been found in clusters and are being spread within groups of people.

Missoula became the first major city in Montana to require the wearing of face coverings on July 9.

** Cases that are “epi-linked” developed symptoms while in quarantine after being identified as close contacts to cases that tested positive.
