Friday marked annual National Teach Children to Save Day. Each year, Stockman Bank employees visit Montana classrooms to give a savings lesson to children, helping them develop the skills they need to make smart financial decisions as adults. This year, due to the COVID-19 health crisis, students are learning at home, so Stockman Bank took the annual event online.
"Teach Children To Save started in 1997, and it's something our bank tries to do a lot. We like going to the schools, and we want to invite the kids to come in. Financial education is so important, and a lot of people don't get to experience what goes on or understand how banking works. Every year we try to encourage as much interaction with the kids," explained Tonya Breding.
