BILLINGS – An Arizona woman who admitted driving 10 pounds of methamphetamine to Billings for sale was sentenced last week to five years in federal prison and five years supervised release.
Leticia Aguirre Tyrrell, 36 of Tucson, Ariz., had pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute meth, according to U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme.
She was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Judge Susan Watters.
Tyrrell was identified as a courier named “Leti” by a confidential informant who arranged for a shipment to Billings, according to Alme. On June 23, 2018, agents learned she had arrived at a Billings hotel and arrested her, according to Alme.
After obtaining a warrant and searching her Ford Fusion, agents found 10 pounds of meth in one large package, the equivalent of 36,240 doses, Alme said.
Tyrrell told investigators she needed money and was supposed to be paid $5,000 for the trip to Billings, according to Alme. She had rented the vehicle and obtained the box of what she believed to be meth from an unknown man in Phoenix to deliver to Montana.
