POLSON – A Mission Valley man is behind bars after a Thursday night fatal shooting.
The Lake County Sheriff reports Daniel Chance Blixt, 29, of Pablo has been charged with Deliberate Homicide in the shooting death of Matthew Adam Posey Darnell, 30, of Polson.
Lake County Sheriff Bell says the shooting was called in just after 9:30 p.m. Thursday to the Lake County 911 center.
Confederated Salish Kootenai Tribal officers, Lake County Sheriff deputies and the Montana Highway Patrol arrived at the scene on Division Street in Pablo and found Matthew Darnell shot multiple times.
He was rushed to a local hospital where Darnell died a short time later from his injuries in the shooting.
Blixt is being held in the Lake County jail until his initial court appearance on the murder charge.
Darnell’s body was taken to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula for an autopsy.
