MISSOULA – The Missoula man accused of driving in the wrong direction on Interstate 90 in a high-speed pursuit with police made his initial court appearance Monday.
29-year-old Kevin Oquist faces eight criminal charges, including three felony counts of criminal endangerment.
Police received a report that someone had hit the Pagoda restaurant with their vehicle and then drove away erratically. After an officer attempted to pull him over on Pine Street he allegedly took off, leading police to Higgins Ave. and over to the Van Buren Street exit.
He then drove up the eastbound exit on Interstate 90, in the wrong direction, heading towards the Orange Street exit and eventually through it. He then attempted to get back on I-90 in the wrong direction again before his car went off the road.
After exiting the vehicle, Oquist tried to flee officers on foot before they subdued him.
Court documents show that Oquist was combative and vulgar with officers and told them when he arrived at the Missoula County Detention Center that he would fight everyone there.
His bond is set at $100,000 and his next court date is set for April 10.
