POLSON — A former business in Polson is the focal point of an operation that has scammed people in numerous states, as well as Puerto Rico.
According to Lake County Sheriff's Office Don Bell, complaints started coming in early September from people who said they purchased heavy equipment from "The Tractor Shop," but never received it.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office believes the former business's identity has been stolen to scam others.
In a news release, the Sheriff says "The Tractor Shop" was once a legitimate operating business and the former owners are not considered suspects.
Victims of the scam are urged to contact your local authorities as well as the Federal Internet Crimes Complaint Center.
