MISSOULA — The main suspect in Tuesday’s homicide at the Creekside Apartments -- Christopher Newrider -- fled the scene resulting in an almost full day manhunt for a suspect law enforcement believed to be armed and dangerous.
Once law enforcement learned that Newrider left on foot they then attempted to determine how far Newrider could have traveled with freezing conditions.
When investigators returned to an apartment associated with Newrider they interviewed a person inside about his possible whereabouts and then searched the apartment.
“While searching this apartment they found him hiding inside and he was taken into custody as soon as he was discovered he cooperated with instructions from the detectives and was arrested,” Missoula Police Department spokesman Sgt. Travis Welsh said.
Welsh added that there is a lot that goes into a search such as this one and MPD was happy with a safe apprehension of Newrider.
