MISSOULA — Three schools in Montana were recently announced as recipients of the U.S. Department of Education's "National Blue Ribbon School" honor -- and one of them was in Missoula.
The "National Blue Ribbon School" honor is based on a school's academic performance as well as its progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups.
The three Montana schools that were honored are:
- Missoula -- Hawthorne Elementary School, Missoula County Public Schools District
- Fort Benton -- Fort Benton Elementary School, Fort Benton Public Schools District
- Fairfield -- Fairfield Elementary School, Fairfield Public Schools
