UPDATE:
According to the latest information from inciweb , the Fishhawk fire is now 15 percent contained thanks to Sunday's rainy weather, and the Stink Water Fire is still holding at 47 acres and 68 percent contained.
Q2 will be closely monitoring these fires and updating the latest information.
Saturday night's Infra-red flight resulted in more accurate mapping of the Fishhawk Fire, which has been burning between Cody, Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park since Sept. 2., according to a press release.
The fire is now burning 11,171 acres and is zero percent contained.
Chipping operations at the Boy Scout Camp and Kitty Creek community will finish by mid-day Sunday. Firefighters are reducing fuels by cleaning up slash piles around structures.
Hose lay kits consisting of hose, nozzles and sprinklers will be left at the Wapiti Ranger District fire cache for future use.
Significant precipitation is forecasted Sunday, coming in three waves of storm. The first showers arrived at 10:00 a.m.. Strong winds and thunderstorms will accompany the second batch of moisture between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. with more rain arriving around 9:00 p.m..
Traditionally during the month of Sept. this area receives approximately one inch of precicipation. Storms through the coming week may bring 2.5 inches of rain.
Rocky Mountain Incident Management Blue Team will transition command back to the Wapiti Ranger District on Monday at 11:00 a.m.. Crews are finishing up fire operations work and decreasing crew activity tomorrow.
U.S. Highway 14/16/20 (North Fork Highway) will still see fire traffic Sunday and due to expected weather conditions please be aware and drive safely in the area. The highway is open from Cody to Yellowstone National Park.
The Stink Water Fire, which was reported on the afternoon of September 3, in the Sulphur Creek area of Sunlight Basin is at 47 acres and is 68 percent contained.
Forest area closures are still in place around both the Fishhawk and Stink Water fires.
