Harrison Fire near Sappington area more than 100 acres in size

A fire burning near the Sappington area is more than 100 acres in size and is producing smoke visible across Gallatin and Madison counties.

According to Madison County Emergency Management, the Harrison fire is burning ln sagebrush and juniper and is located at Highway 359, mile marker 11.

There is no known cause, and DNRC is on scene. Two type-4 helicopters are working until dusk, no structures are in danger, and there are no injuries at this time.

Highway 287 south outside the Sappington area is reportedly closed.
