KALISPELL – The Kalispell Police Department said Wednesday that one individual was taken into custody and is undergoing a mental health evaluation after law enforcement became aware of “vague social media threats that were made towards an unspecified school and other generic locations.”

Police said the individual was identified through social media posts and was located at a Kalispell business on Wednesday afternoon.

Kalispell Public Schools Superintendent Mark Flateau said that they became aware of the threats at about 2:45 p.m. shortly before school was dismissed for the day.  Flateau said that building administrators were notified of the threats and asked to be extra vigilant for the remainder of the day.

“Safety is our highest priority and (I) wanted to share these facts with you to ensure rumors are minimized,” Flateau said in a release Wednesday.
