KALISPELL – The Kalispell Lakers baseball team raised $60,000 for a new one through their Batter Up Bash.

With no baseball teams at Kalispell public schools, Lakers baseball is one place where high schoolers can play the sport.

Lakers’ President Toby Lecthi told MTN News that the 15-year-old old bus the team was using was unsafe — especially traveling across the state and to places like Washington state and Canada.

The old bus had holes, broken stairs, and a broken window. Letchi tells MTN he is thrilled to use this new bus for their season.

“Got it down in Denver. It’s a 2016, with just under 70,000 miles on it. So, just breaking in the diesel engine, so it’s got a lot of life left on it,” Lecthi said.

He added that the team’s next stop in their new bus is Billings for conference games.
