WHITEFISH – Extra sheriffs are on patrol this weekend at the Under the Big Sky Festival as thousands descend on Whitefish for the big event.

The concert is hosting artists from all around the country including some local artists from the Flathead Valley.

Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino says the county will have up to nine deputies each day of the concert. The big thing they are focusing on is organizing traffic to ensure everyone’s safety.

With thousands of concertgoers at the event, Sheriff Heino has safety tips to make sure the concert is enjoyable for everyone.

“Weather is getting a little warmer so dehydration is going to be one. Anytime we’re talking about alcohol and those types of things, we’re going to be monitoring that,” he explained. “We’ve got great medical staff from Whitefish Fire Department out there.”

“The other one is making sure that there are designated drivers of course for leaving the event. There are lots of opportunities from the event from uber to taxi,” Sheriff Heino concluded.
