MISSOULA — Missoula doctors are taking extra precautions to protect pregnant women against COVID-19.

Pregnant women and newborns are among the high risk population.

Community Medical Center already implemented restricted visitor policies. Visitors are not allowed in the clinics, and entry points to the hospital are limited.

CMC says they have not had any sick pregnant women yet, but they are prepared if that does happen.

Dr. Holbrook says only one visitor is allowed in a labor and delivery room.

"The scary thing about the virus is that some people are super sick, but others don't have any symptoms and can still transmit," said Holbrook, "that's why it's so important that pregnant women, and everyone, follow these recommendations, so that they're not getting someone else sick either."

Dr. Holbrook says pregnant women should take the same precautions as everyone else-like hand-washing and limiting social exposure.
