KALISPELL — Reserve Drive in Kalispell is being changed from an urban to a primary route, allowing more funding for reconstruction.
Montana Department of Transportation District Administrator Bob Vosen says the new designation allows for future reconstruction.
Reserve Drive is an easy way to get from US Highway 2 to US Highway 93, however, this often creates traffic problems. The road becomes heavily congested and changing the designation could allow for potential widening.
Vosen told MTN News that there is about $100 million worth of projects ahead of Reserve Drive in the district.
"I recognize the need to do something with Reserve Street, but there are a tremendous number of needs within the primary system in District 1, and only a limited amount of funds," said Vosen.
He added that there is currently no timeline for the project or what the reconstruction would look like.
