KALISPELL — Local health officials strongly endorse social distancing guidelines as businesses reopen under Gov. Steve Bullock’s first phase of Montana's reopening.

Flathead County Public Health Officer Hillary Hanson said health officials answered questions from retail store owners over the weekend and gave advice on safety precautions.

She said Gov. Bullock’s outlined safety measures should be the bare minimum for businesses as they start to reopen, adding that it takes a team effort between business owners and community residents to keep everyone safe during the reopening process.

“We really want this to be a success, we want to be able to continue to move forward, but we need both businesses and the community to be doing their part to ensure that this reopening is successful, and that we don’t need to backtrack," said Hanson.

Hanson added that additional safety ideas and guidelines for retail businesses can found online.
