KALISPELL — The Montana Highway Patrol has reopened a crash that occurred on Aug. 31 after one of the people involved has died.

The crash occurred around 11:05 a.m. on Montana Highway 35 and Bernard Road, near mile marker 50 in Kalispell.

The MHP reports a motorcycle driven by a 17-year-old male from Kalispell was driving southbound when he attempted to pass a U Haul on the left that was attempting to make a left turn onto Bernard.

The motorcycle then traveled into oncoming traffic, striking a 2009 Gray Nissan driven by a 63-year-old Kalispell woman at the intersection. That woman was wearing her seat belt and was not injured in the crash.

The male motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to KRMC as was his 18-year-old female passenger. Although the crash happened on Aug. 31, the motorcyclist died on Monday.

The Montana Highway Patrol tells MTN that speed is suspected in the crash and they are continuing to work the case.
