Kalispell men's shelter seeking help

KALISPELL — A Kalispell men’s shelter with a failing and leaking foundation is in desperate need of remodeling.

Wayne Appl says the foundation hasn’t been repaired at the Ray of Hope since the historic home was built in 1903. The building's crumbling foundation leaks in the winter with Appl saying the problem is right where the food is stored.

The shelter has written several grants, but Appl says those can take years to get approved. He says this shelter houses up to 14 homeless men and wants repairs done as soon as possible.

“Our food pantry is in the basement here, and we use the food pantry to help out the whole community and we have no other place to put it. Everything is obviously off the floor but trying to keep water out is paramount,” said Appl.

Being on the historic registry, repairs will be costly and the Ray of Hope is looking for donations to help repair the failing foundation.

If you’re interested in donating please drop checks off at Ray of Hope at 46 5th Ave W. Kalispell Montana 59901. Mail in donations addressed to Ray of Hope PO Box 5407 Kalispell MT, 59904. Or visit Ray of Hope on Facebook where there is a PayPal link.
