WHITEFISH — An application for a conditional use permit to expand and remodel the former Great Northern Brewery in Whitefish has been submitted to city officials.

The permit includes expanding the restaurant service area on the first floor and adding square footage to the second floor through renovation. It also includes adding a rooftop deck and a service bar.

Blackstar Partners out of Belmont, California purchased the well-known Whitefish brewery in January and the new owners intend to expand service hours to 2 a.m.

The Whitefish Planning Board will hold a public hearing for the proposed project on April 16.

The Whitefish City Council will then review planning board recommendations and take final action on the project on May 6.
