WHITEFISH — People throughout the Flathead Valley are writing kind notes and drawing pictures to give to hospital patients during this time of isolation.

Amanda Kern works at North Valley hospital as a phlebotomist, primarily with senior citizens.

She told MTN News that she noticed as people are adhering to social distancing, many senior citizens weren't getting visitors and many were lonely.

She had the idea to get a group together to create cards and pictures to send to these patients.

The group consists of kids in the valley who are home schooled ranging from elementary school children to high schoolers.

She hopes it will bring these patients some hope and comfort.

"I hope it will remind them that they're not forgotten and that they're not alone. And that there are people thinking of them," said Kern.

Kern says after the pictures and cards are complete, someone at the hospital will sterilize them so they are safe to pass on to the patients.
