Holiday celebrations should be fun, and the Montana Highway Patrol wants you to celebrate safely.
MHP Trooper Scott Waddell says there are steps that can be taken to plan ahead.
“It is a stressful time of year for people. They go out, they drink, they try to have a good time, and they don't plan properly. So, it’s important to take the time to plan. We don't want you not to go out and have a good time. Go out and have a good time. But make the plan so that you can get home safely.”
Recently, the group Mothers Against Drunk Driving released a DUI Prevention ranking where Montana ranked in 50th place among all U.S. states.
As the holiday season is now here there are a few tips that you should be aware of when traveling or celebrating.
If you are going to travel, know where you are going and make sure your route is planned out ahead of time.
While on the roads, pay attention to other drivers as well as any changes to the road conditions.
And if you are going to celebrate make it home safe by having a designated driver or stay sober.
