MISSOULA — After a Missoula man was charged for allegedly threatening city council members, one councilperson is speaking out on his behalf.
Heather Harp read a letter outlining her support for Brandon Bryant during Monday night's city council meeting
Bryant has been arrested and charged in connection to a YouTube video, where he threatens the lives of city council members, according to court documents.
He has been banned from entering city property.
Harp's letter mentions the fact that Bryant is a disabled U.S. veteran., who apparently struggles with mental health issues.
She said she does not plan to watch the video and is instead calling for compassion.
"I know a lot of other members of council have a very different perspective and felt threatened and intimidated. I did not feel that way," said Harp.
Harp added she does not excuse Bryant's behavior but is asking for understanding.
Bryant's attorneys already filed a motion to dismiss the charge against him, and the prosecution has until the end of this week to respond.
