MISSOULA — Target Range fifth grade teacher Charis Jacobson is this week’s One Class at a Time grant winner sponsored by Republic Services and KPAX-TV.
Jacobson received the $250 reward from Republic Services Municipal Manager Chad Bauer and KPAX-TV General Manager Bob Hermes.
The money will be used to purchase rubber fish as part of the Hooked-on Fishing Program.
The rubber fish will introduce her students to the art form of Gyotaku to supplement the Hooked-on Fishing activities they already participate in.
Gyotaku is the traditional Japanese method of printing fish. Jacobson believes her students will enjoy learning this form of art.
"First, just some fun with it, and maybe pique their interest in a different art form, something totally different than they've ever done before," said Jacobson.
