MISSOULA – The former Days Inn located on East Main Street in downtown Missoula will be receiving a facelift thanks to a long-term lease agreement by Imperial Six Hundred LLC.

The investment group has chosen Thinktank Design Group, Inc. as the project architect and Columbia Hospitality has been selected to operate the hotel once renovations are completed.

The hotel lays dormant for now as Thinktank finalizes designs and begins the process of picking contractors. The existing structure will be stripped down to the studs and rebuilt from the ground up.

Officials hope to design a hotel that fits in with downtown Missoula but also offer something different compared to other lodging options.

“We respect and honor the fact of what the local means to the local. We are obviously Montanans at heart, but I think it’s important to elevate what’s there,” said Thinktank co-owner Erik Nelson. “It’s been our model that what we want to do is create something that’s additive. So oftentimes we won’t be looking at something that’s necessarily a direct competitor to some other thing.”

It’s still early in the process, so a timeline for completion is still in the works.

Thinktank hopes to be able to share design plans with the Missoula Community early 2019, and ideally they would like to start construction on the project in spring.
