MISSOULA – Homecoming week at the University of Montana is in full swing and as the Griz prepare to take on the Portland State Vikings there’s good news for drivers.

The ADA improvements to sidewalks on along Higgins Street between Brooks and Fourth streets have been completed just in time for the homecoming parade this weekend.

Montana Department of Transportation project engineer Bill Maart said it was important to finish the project before the weekend to make the area “accessible before homecoming.”

Sidewalk improvements were apart of the ADA accessibility project that has been going on around Missoula for the past several weeks.

The work isn’t done in the Garden City though, with ADA sidewalk improvements now set to be made along Stephens Avenue between Mount Avenue to Beckwith Street.

MDT added that the big construction projects along I-90 in Bommer, at the Van Buren Street interchange and along Russell Street in Missoula will continue through the weekend.
