MISSOULA – Trying to find a spot for your car in downtown Missoula can be a real pain, especially for those working and living in the area.

But with a new garage, Missoula’s Parking Commission is hope to relieve this congestion.

The new structure on East Front Street, located next to the ROAM Student Living building, is open to the public starting Monday.

The public parking garage adds 139 spaces to the downtown parking area.

49 will be hourly-pay parking, and 90 spaces will be for lease.

Interim Parking Commission Director Tiffany Brander says it’s a great addition to downtown.

“There’s residents, there’s employees that are going to be working here everyday. Patients that are just going across the street to the library, mothers, anyone who’s here in this area,” Brander said. “This area is really well-used from all citizens of Missoula. It’s going to impact a lot of different people in a great way.”

The first hour of parking is free and any hour after is $1 each.

For more permanent parking, a monthly lease rate is $85.
