MISSOULA – For people living in the Northwest outdoor activities can play a huge role in our lives.

University of Montana students the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula have partnered up to put together an exhibit showing how the tools and equipment we use for outdoor exploring has changed over time.

The opening reception was held on Friday and the display features more than 60 years of Montana history.

Inanimate objects were brought to life as people were given the opportunity to learn more about their history.

Julie Kahl donated multiple items to the exhibit and said was nice to see them on display.

“It’s kind of awesome actually. Because you know this stuff has been hiding away in my basement and it’s not the sort of stuff you give to Goodwill,” Kahl said.

“So it’s nice to have someplace that it can live another life and other people can appreciate it like I once appreciated it,” she added.

The exhibit is open to the public until April 21. Click here for more information.
