MISSOULA – Authorities have released the name of the man who died in an early Monday morning crash west of Lolo.

Missoula County Sheriff TJ McDermott says that Tyler Hays, 34, of California — who had recently moved to back to Montana — died in the single-vehicle crash on Graves Creek Road.

The accident happened at around 2 a.m. on Monday when Hays lost control of his SUV and went down an embankment.

MHP Sgt. Sean Finley said on Monday that alcohol, drugs and speed were believed to have been factors in the accident. Hays was not wearing his seat belt.

The Montana Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the details surrounding this crash.
