MISSOULA – The smell of tacos and the sound of Latin music could be heard for blocks surrounding Caras Park on Saturday afternoon.

It was all part of the first annual Margarita Festival and nine local bars took part — including Iron Horse and Plonk.

Each of the businesses participating in the event served up their own unique mix. After sampling their fill people were able to vote on their favorites.

“There are plenty of people in this community that are not necessarily into the microbrews and into the beer fest themselves. You know were seeing a lot of people I haven’t seen at those events before,” said Logan Foret with BFK Productions told MTN News.

“You know we were not expecting to get hit as hard as we did so early but with the farmers market and the sun has been out people are coming out here, enjoying Latin music, and having a good time with us,” he added.

A soon to be new Missoula restaurant took home the win for their margarita mix. The Camino is expected to open in a few months.

The event coordinators hope to bring it to Portland and Seattle in the future.
