MISSOULA — There are new developments in the January death of a man at a Missoula homeless shelter.

Missoula Police Department spokesman Sgt. Travis Welsh says the death of 45-year-old Sean Stevenson has been referred to the Missoula County Attorney’s Office for review.

Stevenson died after being involved in an altercation on Jan. 3, 2020 at the Poverello Center.

When the Missoula Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Stevenson unresponsive in the basement of the facility and emergency personnel had to perform CPR.

Stevenson was then taken to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula where he later passed away.

Police arrested Johnny Lee Perry following the incident, but he was later released from jail as claims of self-defense were investigated.
