Missoula police chief discusses fatal officer-involved shooting

MISSOULA — Missoula Police Cheif Jaeson White held a press conference Thursday morning to provide an update on a recent fatal officer-involved shooting.

Jesse James Kale Brown, 34, of Missoula, was pronounced dead after Missoula Police Department officers say Brown attacked an officer while they were responding to a domestic disturbance.

The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in the 2300 block of Sherwood Lane.

Chief White says that Brown had two "substantially sized" kitchen knives and that Brown was shot four times by the officer.

The officer -- whose name has not yet been released -- remains on paid administrative leave per Missoula Police Department policy.

The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation in investigating the shooting.
