MISSOULA — The Missoula City Council will vote on an ordinance banning trapping on Missoula’s parks, trails, and conservation lands on Monday evening.
The amendment comes after a handful of issues over the years involving dogs getting caught in traps.
If passed, the ordinance will clarify "hunting" versus "trapping," and give judges more leeway in sentencing people who violate the law.
While the topic hasn’t generated much of a controversy, proponents of the change say the stricter rules will only enhance our community’s safety and recreational experience.
