MISSOULA — The Missoula City-County Health Department will follow new COVID-19 testing criteria now that more people are needing to be tested.

Missoula County COVID-19 Incident Commander Cindy Farr says many people are experiencing symptoms so they will focus their efforts on testing that population.

There are clinics and providers that can also provide testing, and Farr says there are options listed on the health department's COVID website.

Farr says this issue shouldn’t last long as both the county and state switch to a new streamlined reporting system.

“At the state level they are also switching to Sara Alert and they are trying to figure out how to get MIDAS to talk to Sara Alert and so because of that we are going to see some discrepancies on the local numbers versus the state numbers,” Farr said.

The new streamlined system will help contract tracing. Farr says the discrepancies should only last a week.
