MISSOULA — The new Missoula Mercantile has been slowly rolling out new businesses and is ready to showcase all it has to offer.

Missoula’s Mercantile has a variety of shops restaurants and studios that have already been open for a little while and on Tuesday night the Merc hosted its grand opening to showcase all the new features it brings to Missoula

“So, the grand opening is really to celebrate all of the commercial spaces open all the rooms being available at Residence Inn, and then we will also be premiering a short film that was made to show the history of the Missoula Mercantile past and present,” said Jed Dennison the property manager for the retail spaces.

“I think there is a pretty good buzz both within our crew and around town. We’re super stoked to finally get there,” Camino owner Philip Shaffer. “It’s been basically four years from concept to materialization and we are ready to eat and drink the things that we are talking about preparing.”

From Zoo Thai to Basil and Olive and Iron, the Merc has plenty to offer Missoula, and all of this comes in time for the holiday season which wasn't exactly planned.

“I would like to say it was, I think we would have like to have been open a little earlier but I think that its great timing for the retailers and for the restaurants,” Dennison told MTN News. “For everybody to be open right at the beginning of the season because I think that will help them push forward into the new year.”

All of the Merc’s new shops and restaurants bring a new feel to downtown creating a unique atmosphere.

The space is bringing a lot to Missoula because things have been changing quite drastically over the last year since the inception of the Mercantile opening,” Shaffer said. “And we feel fortunate to be tenants and stewards of this space that has so much history we also think that we have created with the help of our contractors and architects and friends and family a unique place to come and dine.”

The Camino isn't open quite yet, but you can still see the almost-finished space at the grand opening. They expect open in the coming weeks.
