MISSOULA — The Missoula Police Department is issuing a scam warning.
The Missoula Chamber of Commerce recently alerted MPD about a scam that they are being named in.
It appears that someone has created fictitious "Gift Certificates" that are said to be good for a stay at a local hotel.
The Chamber alerted MPD that the gift certificates are not legitimate, have not been created by them, and have no financial backing.
MPD additionally reports that they have received news that the scam is also being attempted at other businesses with different sponsors and representatives identified in the hand-written spaces.
Anyone with information about who is creating these fictitious gift certificates and/or attempting to pass them is asked to contact Missoula Police Officer Jay Gillhouse at (406) 552-6300.
