Search underway for a missing hunter in Eastern Montana

Authorities are searching for a missing hunter in a remote area of Montana.

The Glasgow Courier reports that four people had been hunting since Sunday, and on Wednesday, the Valley County Sheriff's Office flew over the area and found a swamped boat.

Three of the four hunters were accounted for, but the fourth person has not yet been found.

Additional search crews were mobilized on Thursday morning to assist.

Agencies assisting in the search include Garfield County; Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks; US Army Corps of Engineers; and CMR Wildlife Refuge personnel.

(UPDATE, 10:32 a.m.) The missing hunter has been found safe in Garfield County. He was found with the assistance of a hunter who saw him and guided searchers to him. Rescuers are working on extraction for him and the swamped boat.
