Teen dies after being hit by a vehicle in Hill County; suspect at large

A teen girl died after being hit by a vehicle on the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation in Hill County on Thursday night, and the suspect has not yet been apprehended.

The Havre Herald reports that the 16-year-old girl was hit by a Dodge Journey minivan after she ran out into the intersection of Buttercup and Laredo roads at about 11 p.m., according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

The teen ended up on the side of the road and was declared dead at the scene; her name has not yet been released.



The suspect drove away and remains at large.

MHP trooper Kade Hill said pieces of the suspect’s vehicle were found at the scene. The vehicle is believed to be dark-colored.

The MHP is handling the crash investigation, while tribal police and the FBI are investigating the criminal aspect of the case.
