(UPDATE, 11:45 am) Roosevelt County Sheriff Jason Frederick says that Nickander has been found and is safe. Sheriff Frederick thanked the community for their assistance. No other details have been released.
(1st REPORT, 10:47 am) The Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office is asking for help locating Nickander Dewayne Dean Merculieff.
Nickander is 10 years old, and was last seen on Thursday, February 6, between 3:30 pm and 4 pm walking east from Poplar Elementary School toward the Tribal Express convenience store.
He was wearing black pants and a black polo sweater with a dreamcatcher logo (four colors on dreamcatcher).
Nickander has short, curly hair with recently dyed bangs colored bright red. He is about 5' tall and 150 pounds.
If you have any information on his whereabouts, you are asked to call the Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office at 406-653-6240.
Several people have asked why an AMBER Alert has not been issued in this case.
AMBER Alerts are only issued if there is "reasonable belief by law enforcement that a child has been abducted or has disappeared under suspicious circumstances," and "the law enforcement agency believes the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death."
