BILLINGS – Fox News anchor Bret Baier and his family were involved in a “serious car accident” while vacationing in Montana on Monday.

According to a post to Baier’s Facebook page, Baier and his family were briefly hospitalized but are now back home. Baier will be back at the anchor desk for his show “Special Report with Bret Baier” on Tuesday night.

The post goes on to say: “He [Baier] wants to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and wishes to remind everyone to always wear a seatbelt and to never forget what is important in life.”

News of the wreck was first released when late-night host Stephen Colbert announced Baier, who was supposed to appear as a guest on his CBS show on Tuesday, would not make it due to the crash.

Baier posted a photo on his Facebook page of his family skiing at the Yellowstone Club over the weekend.

Bret Baier, the host of “Special Report with Bret Baier” on Fox News, was hospitalized in a recent crash in Montana, host Stephen Colbert announced on his CBS late-night show Monday night.

Baier was scheduled to be a guest on “Late Night with Stephen Colbert” Tuesday night. Colbert said Baier and his family were involved in the “bad accident” but all reported they were okay, according to Mediaite.

The host did not give details of when and where the accident occurred. On Saturday, Baier posted a photo on his Facebook page of his family skiing at the Yellowstone Club, a private club and ski resort in Madison County.

MTN News is working to confirm those details. A spokeswoman at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital said Monday night that Baier was not currently a patient there.

Baier tweeted this Monday afternoon:

Don’t take anything for granted – every day is a blessing – and family is everything. It’s always good to remind yourself of that – before something does it for you. #countyourblessings
