BILLINGS – In a 24-hour time frame, Montana has seen hundreds of in snow-related crashes and slide-offs.
Across the state, the Montana Highway Patrol reports there have been 314 crashes through the course of this last snow storm.
Sgt. Andrew Knapp said the crashes are mostly weather-related.
“It’s this time of year with these weather conditions,” said Knapp.
As far as slide-off totals, those are non-injury, single-vehicle incidents. Knaps said the Helena MHP dispatch has taken in 159.
The hardest hit area for traffic incidents is the district that encompasses Helena, Butte, Dillon, and Drummond. Knapp said there have been 85 crashes and 60 slide-offs.
Billings and the Red Lodge, Hardin area has a reported 53 crashes and 20 slide-offs.
Slide-offs are not investigated like a crash, according to Knapp. That is where the incident had no damage or minimal damage he said.
