BILLINGS – A Brazilian grill restaurant that’s already popular in Missoula is coming to Billings, and MTN News got a sneak peek before it opens.

Jenny Fick got a chance to meet with the man behind the concept of “Five on Black.”

“You’re standing in Five on Black,” owner and founder Tom Snyder said. “We are getting extremely close to completion. We’ll be opening in the next couple weeks here.”

Five on Black is a Montana born, fast-casual Brazilian restaurant. The Billings restaurant will be located at 316 S. 24th St. W.

It came about as part of a statewide business plan in college.

“I ended up winning the competition and moved forward with the idea, and this will be our sixth store, and it’s just something that I absolutely love doing,” Snyder said.

Five on Black restaurant will offer meats cooked on a rotisserie with a base of rice, or greens.

“Use really simple ingredients to make amazing flavors and it’s food that is made fresh, made from scratch every day. It’s healthy by nature. It’s food that you can feel good about,” Snyder said.

So why did Montana need this Brazilian restaurant?

“Montana needs it because the people in Montana eat this way, people in here in Missoula and Bozeman and Billings where we have stores and all over the state and country,” Snyder said. “They want fresh, healthy, convenient, inexpensive food, and this cuisine fits into that perfectly.”

Make sure to stay tuned to Q2 next week for an official open date, as well as a way you can win Five on Black for life.
