A man was rescued Monday night after becoming trapped on a cliff edge.
The Belt Rural Volunteer Fire Department reported that several agencies were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. to a report of an uninjured individual who was trapped on the edge of a cliff.
The person was hanging on to a root after the loose ground he was climbing slid. The incident took place near Logging Creek Campground in the Little Belt Mountains, according to BRVFD.
A team from Belt Fire climbed to a safe location and determined crews could not reach the person without specialized equipment.
The 40th Helicopter Squadron out of Malmstrom Air Force Base then conducted an air rescue and the person was brought to safe ground.
The man was checked out by BRVFD, who determined he was not injured.
