GREAT FALLS — Volunteers gathered inside an Albertsons grocery store in Great Falls for a community goods and food drive Saturday.
Veterans like Dennis Burns wanted a head start on Veterans Day by raising awareness and funds for the Great Falls Vet Center.
“We’re out here today for food for the vet center downtown. Their shelves are just about empty right now," Burns said. "We also are taking donations for clothing and stuff like that."
The veterans were not the only ones spreading awareness -- relatives of veterans and a group of children also helped. “This is so they can get the perspective to know what veterans have gone through to protect this country,” Burns said.
Many full bags of goods from donors and donations received will go to veterans in need this winter. “A lot of these veterans don’t have proper clothing. You know it’s coming wintertime and whatever we can do that’s what we’re going to do,” Burns said.
