MISSOULA — The MCCHD received 300 doses of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday and are making preparations to distribute the vaccine next week.

There are currently not enough doses for all those who fall under the Phase 1A umbrella. It's unknown of when this phase will be complete at this time.

They are working with all local vaccine distributors to identify and prioritize remaining Phase 1A workers so they can divide up vaccination appointments as far as their allotments allow.

Most of the vaccine distributions given in Missoula County will not be through MCCHD as has been done in the past. Instead, the national COVID-19 vaccine plan will set up the vaccine group priorities.

But the department will take a large collaborative role with local health care providers to collectively bring about local vaccine administration to Missoula County residents.

At this point of vaccine distribution it's too early to have enough vaccines for everyone who fits into the first priority group. There is also limited information to answer public and media concerns about vaccine availability.

However current local vaccine partners have agreed to share information, join in planning, and coordinate public messages about vaccine availability to help roll out the federal COVID-19 vaccine plan in Missoula.
