For those of you looking for a new hiking or biking adventure here in Montana, we’ve got great news for you.

Just outside of West Yellowstone, the old Union Pacific rail line will be converted into a new recreational trail.

The trail is being created with help from both The Yellowstone Historic Center and Custer Gallatin National Forest and will hopefully be operational by summer 2021.

This trail will make up an important section of the Greater Yellowstone Trail and will connect to the Continental Divide Trail.

Along the path, there will also be interpretive signage that will focus on the local history of West Yellowstone and its roots as a rail hub.
