GREAT FALLS — A teen died in a crash near Conrad on Sunday.

It happened at about 11:20 a.m. near mile marker 16 of Highway 219 (Pendroy Road).

The Montana Highway Patrol reports a car with three occupants was eastbound when the car began to go the right side of the road.

The driver over-corrected to the left, at which point the car went off the road and rolled, landing on its roof.

The driver and the rear passenger were thrown from the vehicle. The driver, a 17-year old male from Shelby, died at the scene; his name has not yet been released.

The two passengers - a 16-year old male and a 17-year old male, both from Shelby - were taken to a nearby hospital for their injuries; the nature and severity of their injuries has not been released.

The responding MHP trooper said that it appears that speed may have been a factor in the crash; there is no indication that impaired driving was involved.
