MISSOULA – Many people refer to Missoula as a blue dot in an otherwise Red State.  After all, it was of the six counties in the Treasure State where the majority voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

But on Saturday, supporters of President Donald Trump gathered at the University of Montana to show their support and to promote peace — as well as understanding in what they call today’s heated political climate.

The rally was organized by UM students Cayden Stant and Jack Burns who say they want to help fellow Republicans in the community feel that their voices are being heard — and that they had a group in Missoula that shared their beliefs.

“We think there’s a lot of divisiveness in the world and we think people are kind of scared to show support for our president. We think that in today’s world they’re scared because they will be labeled as sexist or racist or something like that and we think you should be able to support your president and America,” said Stant.

The two told MTN News they had already begun planning for Saturday’s event when they heard that President Trump was considering a visit to Missoula and say they are excited to know if he will.

President Trump will be holding a rally on Thursday evening in a Neptune Aviation hangar at the Missoula International Airport. This will be the President’s third visit to Montana in recent weeks.
